[ Act No. 3902, November 17, 1931 ]

AN ACT TO REGULATE THE BUYING OF RAW OR LEAF TOBACCO, AND TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR ITS VIOLATION

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

SECTION 1. Any person, corporation, or company engaged in the buying of raw or leaf tobacco on the scale, or on the basis of grades, or any classification, whether at retail or wholesale, shall keep in a conspicuous and accessible place of the building wherein his business is carried on, the scale and the grades of raw or leaf tobacco for which he offers a price.

SEC. 2. Any such person, corporation, or company which buys raw or leaf tobacco outside of the building wherein his business is carried on, or in places other than such building, shall provide himself with the proper grades and scale for raw or leaf tobacco for which he offers a price.

SEC. 3. Any person, corporation, or company violating any of the provisions of this Act shall be punished by a fine of not exceeding five hundred pesos or by imprisonment of not to exceed six months, or both such fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the court.

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect on January first, nineteen hundred and thirty-two.
