[ Act No. 3879, November 13, 1931 ]

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT PERSONS ELECTED TO PROVINCIAL OR MUNICIPAL OFFICE SHALL ASSUME OFFICE ON THE SIXTEENTH OF JULY NEXT FOLLOWING THEIR ELECTION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

SECTION 1. Section two thousand and seventy-four of Act Numbered Twenty-seven hundred and eleven, known as the Administrative Code, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 2074. Term of office of elective official.—The term of a provincial officer elected at any general election commencing with the year nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, shall begin on the sixteenth of July following such election and shall end on the fifteenth of the same month three years thereafter; but if a successor be not inducted at the time appointed by law, the incumbent shall hold over until a successor shall be duly qualified."
SEC. 2. Section twenty-one hundred and seventy-seven of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SEC. 2177. Term of elective officer.—The term of a municipal officer elected at any general election commencing with the year nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, shall begin on the sixteenth of July following such election and shall end on the fifteenth of the same month three years thereafter; but if a successor be not inducted at the time appointed by law, the incumbent shall hold over until a successor shall be duly qualified."
SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
