[ Act No. 343, February 01, 1902 ]

AN ACT REPEALING ACT NUMBERED SEVENTY-EIGHT, PARAGRAPH (D) OF SECTION EIGHT OF ACT NUMBERED EIGHTY-TWO, AND SECTION THREE OF ACT NUMBERED EIGHTY-THREE, AND ACT NUMBERED ONE HUNDRED AND SIX AMENDATORY OF SAID ACTS, SO FAR AS CONCERNS CERTAIN INHABITANTS OF THE PROVINCE OF CEBU.

By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted by the United States Philippine Commission, that:

WHEREAS Brigadier-General R. P. Hughes, as one of the conditions of the surrender of the insurgents in the Province of Cebu, promised said insurgents that "the insurrecto forces will not be made an exception to the general rule an will not be deprived of their civil and political rights;"

SECTION 1. Act Numbered Seventy-eight, entitled "An Act declaring all persons in arms against the authority of the United States in the Philippine Islands, and all persons aiding or abetting them, on the first day of April, nineteen hundred and one, or thereafter, ineligible to hold office," paragraph (d) of section eight of Act Numbered Eighty-two, section three of Act Numbered Eighty-three, and Act Numbered One hundred and six, amendatory of said Acts, are hereby repealed so far as concerns those persons who surrendered pursuant to the terms assented to by Brigadier-General Hughes.

SEC. 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
