[ Act No. 2534., November 02, 1915 ]

AN ACT EMPOWERING THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL TO AUTHORIZE, UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, AT THE REQUEST OF ANY PROVINCE AFFECTED BY THE RECENT TYPHOONS, CERTAIN SPECIFIC ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION OR RECONSTRUCTION WORK, CHARGEABLE TO THE PUBLIC WORKS ALLOTMENTS FOR NINETEEN HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN, AND MAKING THE NECESSARY APPROPRIATIONS THEREFOR.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Legislature, that:

SECTION 1. Whenever, as a result of the recent typhoons, it is found that the people of the provinces affected are ' suffering to such an extent that it is believed public works immediately begun will be of considerable aid to the sufferers, and if it appears, further, that the current Insular and provincial appropriations for public works and permanent improvements for nineteen hundred and fifteen are exhausted, the Governor-General may, at the request of the provincial board concerned, authorize specific road or bridge construction or reconstruction work, or both, in any part of the zone devastated by the typhoons, chargeable to the allotments for public works and permanent improvements for nineteen hundred and sixteen: Provided, however, That the total expense of the work in any one province shall not exceed the total of the funds for roads and bridges granted by the Insular Government in nineteen hundred and fifteen from the regular allotment for such province from funds appropriated by section one, subsection (I) of Act Numbered Twenty-four hundred and ninety-four, entitled "An Act making an appropriation for public works and permanent improvements."

SECTION. 2. There are hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sums as may be necessary to carry the provisions of this Act into immediate effect.

SECTION. 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage and shall cease to be effective upon the date of the passage by the Legislature of the Public Works and Permanent Improvements Act for nineteen hundred and sixteen.
