[ Act No. 2552., January 25, 1916 ]

AN ACT TO AMEND SUBSECTION (H) OF SECTION SIX OF ACT NUMBERED THIRTEEN HUNDRED AND NINETY-SIX, BY TRANSFERRING TO THE PROVINCIAL BOARD THE POWER CONFERRED UPON THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNORS OF PALAWAN, MINDORO, AND BATANES TO REMOVE TOWNSHIP OFFICERS.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Legislature, that:

SECTION 1. Subsection (h) of section six of Act Numbered Thirteen hundred and ninety-six, applicable to the Provinces of Palawan, Mindoro, and Batanes, is hereby amended to read as follows:

" (h) He shall at least once in every six months visit every township or settlement in the province; while in the township or settlement he shall hear all complaints made against ar the conduct of any of its executive officers, and take suitable action thereon.  He shall have the power to suspend any township official charged with misconduct in office or disloyalty to the United States, and after proper notice and hearing to remove him, with the approval of the provincial board, and to direct the provincial fiscal to bring a civil or criminal suit in the public interest against the person complained of if the charge made involves either civil or criminal liability, or to dismiss the complaint and reinstate the person complained of."

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
