[ Act No. 2414, October 17, 1914 ]

AN ACT APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF FIFTEEN THOUSAND PESOS FOR TEMPORARY REPAIR OF BRIDGES ON THE BENGUET ROAD, AMENDING SECTION ONE OF ACT NUMBERED NINETEEN HUNDRED AND FIFTY-NINE MAKING THAT PORTION OF THE BENGUET ROAD WITHIN THE MOUNTAIN PROVINCE A TOLL ROAD, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that:

SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated out of any funds Appropriation, in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of fifteen thousand pesos, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for temporary repair of bridges on the Benguet Road and other incidental expenses necessitated thereby, the balance if any to be returned to the Insular Treasury upon the opening of the Naguilian Road for traffic.

SEC. 2. Section one of Act numbered Nineteen hundred and fifty-nine is hereby amended to read as follows:
"SECTION 1. The Governor-General is hereby directed to declare that portion of the Benguet Road within the Mountain Province a toll road for all classes of vehicles and for such classes of persons or animals as may be designated by him and the Governor-General is hereby authorized in his discretion to make and promulgate rates and method of payment of toll and regulations for carrying into effect the provisions of this Act, and to discontinue the collection of toll when the Naguilian Road is open for traffic.  The proceeds of all tolls collected under the provisions of this Act shall be devoted, under the direction of the Governor-General, to the payment of the expenses of collection of the toll, to the reimbursement of the appropriation hereby made, and to the maintenance and repair of said road. The Governor-General may exempt vehicles of the Army,  Navy, or other department of the United States Government from the payment of the toll."
SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect upon its passage.
