[ Act No. 690, March 17, 1903 ]

AN ACT CREATING THE POSITION OF SANITARY ENGINEER FOR THE CITY OF MANILA, UNDER THE BOARD OF HEALTH FOR THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that:

SECTION 1. There shall be employed under the Board of Health for the Philippine Islands, in addition to the persons heretofore authorized to he employed, a Sanitary Engineer for the city of Manila, at a salary of three thousand dollars per annum, who shall be appointed by the Civil Governor with the advice and consent of the Philippine Commission.

The Sanitary Engineer for the city of Manila, in the absence or inability of the Sanitary Engineer of the Philippine Islands to attend the meetings of the Board of Health for the Philippine Islands, shall act as a member of the Board of Health as provided for the Sanitary Engineer of the Philippine Islands and shall perform such duties as the Board of Health or the Secretary of the Interior may direct.

SEC. 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on March first, nineteen hundred and three.
