[ Act No. 2242, February 11, 1913 ]

AN ACT AMENDING ACT NUMBERED NINETEEN HUNDRED AND EIGHTY, ENTITLED "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE CREATION OF A COMMISSIONED AND ENLISTED SERVICE WITHIN THE BUREAU OF NAVIGATION, THE CREATION OF A PENSION FUND IN CONNECTION THEREWITH, AND FOR THE PUNISHMENT OF OFFENSES AGAINST GOOD ORDER AND DISCIPLINE WITHIN SUCH SERVICE," BY MAKING THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION TWO THEREOF RETROACTIVE FOR CERTAIN COMMISSIONED OFFICERS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Legislature, that:

SECTION 1. Section two of Act Numbered Nineteen hundred and eighty, entitled "An Act to provide for the creation of a commissioned and enlisted service within the Bureau of Navigation, the creation of a pension fund in connection therewith, and for the punishment of offenses against good order and discipline within such service," is hereby amended by adding at the close of said section the following:
"Provided, further, That this section shall be retroactive tr so that all commissioned officers in the service of the Bureau of Navigation at the date of the passage of this Act and who entered the service prior to June twenty-seventh, nineteen hundred and five, shall be entitled to the increase in pay provided for in this section for each five years' continuous, faithful and efficient service from the date of their original entry into the service: And provided further, That the service of any officer commissioned prior to June twenty-seventh, nineteen hundred and five, shall be considered continuous for the purpose of this section if he has not been separated from the service at any time for a longer period than one year, but the time he was so separated shall not be counted in such continuous service.
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
