[ Act No. 745, May 13, 1903 ]

AN ACT AMENDING ACT NUMBERED THREE HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE, ENTITLED "AN ACT DESIGNATING THE DAYS WHICH SHALL BE OBSERVED AS PUBLIC HOLIDAYS IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS," BY ADDING TO THE DAYS SPECIFIED IN SUCH ACT THE THIRTIETH DAY OF MAY, TO BE KNOWN AS MEMORIAL DAY, IN HONOR OF THE SOLDIERS AND SAILORS OF THE UNITED STATES WHO HAVE SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Commission, that:

SECTION 1. Act Numbered Three hundred and forty-five, entitled "An Act designating the days which shall be observed as public holidays in the Philippine Islands," is hereby amended by inserting in the third line of section one thereof, after the words "Holy Week" and before the words "Fourth of July," the following: "The thirtieth day of May, to be known as Memorial Day in honor of the soldiers and sailors of the United States who gave up their lives for their country"; and by inserting after the words "the twenty-second of February" and before the words "the fourth of July" in the second section of said Act, the words, "the thirtieth of May."

SEC. 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
