[ Act No. 2383, February 28, 1914 ]

AN ACT DESIGNATING CERTAIN DUTIES TO STENOGRAPHERS OF THE COURTS OF JUSTICE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

By authority of the United States, be it enacted by the Philippine Legislature, that:

SECTION 1. Whenever an appeal is allowed by a Court of Transcript of First Instance or by the Court of Land Registration, in a civil, criminal or registration matter, or special proceeding, it shall be the duty of the clerk of such court to direct the stenographer or stenographers of such courts to attach, and said stenographer or stenographers  shall  attach, to the record of the case appealed a transcript of the stenographic notes taken during the trial of the case: Provided, That said stenographer or stenographers shall not charge anything for such transcription.

SEC. 2. Stenographers shall also give such transcript of such notes to every person requesting same upon payment of (a) thirty centavos for each hundred words, before the appeal is allowed by the proper courts, and (b) fifteen centavos for the same number of words after such allowance.

SEC. 3. The public good requiring the enactment of this law the same shall take eifect on its passage.
