[ Act No. 298, November 11, 1901 ]

AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE EMPLOYMENT OF FIVE ADDITIONAL CLERKS OF CLASS NINE IN THE OFFICE OF THE AUDITOR OF THE PHILIPPINE ARCHIPELAGO, AND MAKING AN APPROPRIATION THEREFOR, AND ALSO APPROPRIATING FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS AS A DEFICIENCY TO PAY TEMPORARY CLERKS PREVIOUSLY AUTHORIZED.

By authority of the President of the United States, be it enacted by the United States Philippine Commission, that:

SECTION 1. Authority is hereby given for the employment of five additional clerks of class nine in the office of the Auditor of the Philippine Archipelago, and the sum of eight hundred and thirty-three dollars and thirty-three cents is hereby appropriated for the payment of the salaries thereof from the eleventh day of November, nineteen hundred and one, to and including the thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred and one.

SEC. 2. The sum of five hundred dollars is hereby appropriated as a deficiency appropriation to pay temporary clerks heretofore employed in the office of the Auditor of the Philippine Archipelago for bringing up arrears of work.

SEC. 3. The term "dollars" wherever used in this Act means dollars in money of the United States.

SEC. 4. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred.

SEC. 5. This Act shall take effect on its passage.
