[ Act No. 3624, December 05, 1929 ]

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTIONS ONE AND FOUR OF ACT NUMBERED THIRTY-FOUR HUNDRED AND FORTY-THREE ENTITLED "AN ACT TO APPROPRIATE THE SUM OF FIFTY THOUSAND PESOS FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT, EQUIPMENT, MAINTENANCE, AND OPERATION OF SEED-FARMS FOR RICE, CORN, SUGAR CANE AND OTHER STAPLE CROPS UNDER THE BUREAU OF AGRICULTURE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES," SO AS TO EXTEND ITS OPERATION TO EXPERIMENT STATIONS, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL FUNDS THEREFOR, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and. House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

SECTION 1. Section one of Act Numbered Thirty-four hundred and forty-three entitled "An Act to appropriate the sum of fifty thousand pesos for the establishment, equipment, maintenance, and operation of seed-farms for rice, corn, sugar cane and other staple crops under the Bureau of Agriculture, and for other purposes," is hereby amended so as to read as follows: 

"SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated out of the funds in the Insular Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of fifty thousand pesos to be used in the establishment, maintenance, equipment, and operation of seed-farms and experiment stations for the purpose of raising selected and pedigreed seeds—rice, corn, sugar cane, coffee, coconut and other staple crops—for distribution to the farmers throughout the Philippine Islands, in accordance with the provisions of this Act."

SEC. 2. Section four of the same Act is hereby amended to read as follows: 

"SEC. 4. Subject to the general executive control and:, supervision of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Director of Agriculture shall have the expenditures as he may deem necessary for the proper carrying out of the purposes of this Act: Provided, however, That no person appointed under this Act shall receive as compensation more than three thousand and six hundred pesos annually.  
SEC. 3. It shall be the duty of the Director of Commerce and Industry to submit annually to the Philippine Legislature through proper channels, an estimate of expenditures necessary to carry out the work specified by this Act; and the inclusion of such estimate of expenditures in the proposed budget for every year is hereby authorized.   

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect on January first, nineteen hundred and thirty.
