[ Act No. 3541, November 22, 1929 ]

AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION NINETEEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY OF ACT NUMBERED TWENTY-SEVEN HUNDRED AND ELEVEN, KNOWN AS THE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

SECTION 1. Section nineteen hundred and thirty of Act Numbered Twenty-seven hundred and eleven, known as the Administrative Code, is hereby amended to read as follows: 

"SEC. 1930. General jurisdiction of Bureau of Posts.—The Bureau of Posts, subject to the approval of the Secretary of Commerce and Communications, shall have exclusive authority to establish, maintain, and discontinue post offices, and to establish, operate and maintain rural free mail delivery, rural money order and postal savings bank service, and to control all mail and postal business conducted in the Philippine Islands, as well upon the waters within the maritime jurisdiction of the Philippine Government as upon land, and it shall likewise have the exclusive control and management of all telegraph and telephone lines and service, including submarine cables and wireless installations, now or hereafter under the jurisdiction or control of the Government of the Philippine Islands. 

"Upon recommendation of the Director of Posts, approved by the Department Head, the Governor-General may authorize the establishment, by a provincial or municipal government or by any branch of the insular service, of telephone lines to serve local or temporary interest, without being subject to the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Posts."

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
