[ Act No. 3547, November 22, 1929 ]

AN ACT DEFINING AND PENALIZING CRUELTY TO ANIMALS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Legislature assembled and by the authority of the same:

SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful to overdrive, overload, torture, torment, or neglect to provide with the necessary sustenance or shelter, or to cruelly beat, or needlessly mutilate or kill, or cause, or procure to be overdriven, over­loaded, tortured, tormented, or deprived of the necessary sustenance or shelter, or to be cruelly beaten, or needlessly mutilated or killed, any living creature. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Act shall be punished by a fine of not less than five nor more than two hundred pesos, or by subsidiary imprisonment in case of insolvency.

SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
