[ Commonwealth Act No. 379, August 23, 1938 ]

AN ACT REQUIRING THE BRANDING AND REGISTRATION OF LARGE ANIMALS IMPORTED INTO THE PHILIPPINES AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE SAME.

Be it enacted by the National Assembly of the Philippines:

SECTION 1. No delivery to the consignee shall be authorized by the Collector of Customs, of any large animal' imported into the Philippines, unless the Director of Animal Industry or his authorized representative has certified that' said animal has been duly registered and branded with a distinctive mark in the manner prescribed by the Bureau of Animal Industry.

SEC. 2. Any person who shall fail, neglect or refuse to brand or register large animals as herein provided shall be punished for each animal not branded or registered in' accordance with this Act by a fine of not less than two hundred pesos nor more than one thousand pesos or by imprisonment of not less than thirty days nor more than six months, or by both such fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court.

SEC. 3. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
