[ Commonwealth Act No. 279, June 03, 1938 ]

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT PREFERENCE IN DISPATCHING SHALL BE GIVEN TO CASES INVOLVING CONFLICTS BETWEEN CAPITAL AND LABOR.

Be it enacted by the National Assembly of the Philippines:

SECTION 1. Cases which a hearing of the allegation shows to involve conflicts between capital and labor shall be given preference over ordinary civil cases in their decision by the courts of justice of these Islands.

SEC. 2. Postponements of hearings shall in cases of this nature be granted for no longer than a week each time a continuance is requested unless, for good reasons, the court shall see fit to grant more time.

SEC. 3. The clerks of courts shall be responsible administratively for the immediate inclusion of cases of this nature in the dockets of their respective courts if such cases are ready for trial and provided the plaintiff, upon filing the complaint makes an affidavit that the case comes under the provisions of this Act: Provided, That cases of this nature pending trial at the time of the approval of this Act shall be immediately included by the clerks of courts in the dockets of their respective courts, in the order in which they were filed.

SEC. 4. This Act shall take effect on its approval.
