[ LETTER OF INSTRUCTIONS NO. 195, June 17, 1974 ]

SUBJECT :
Implementation of Presidential Decree No. 468 relative to the importation of 2,000 dozens golf balls by the Republic of the Philippines Golf Association.

WHEREAS, I have issued Presidential Decree No. 468, dated May 23, 1974, repealing paragraph (e) of Section 184 of the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended, so as to remove the prohibitive 70% advance sales tax on polo mallets and balls, gold bags, clubs and balls, chess and checker boards and pieces;

WHEREAS, the Republic of the Philippines Golf Association has imported 2,000 dozens gold balls now held in custody by the Commissioner of Customs for failure to pay the 70% advance sales tax required prior to release of such articles as previously provided under the repealed paragraph (e) Section 184 of the National Internal Revenue Code, as amended, in conjunction with paragraph (b) Section 183 of the same Code;

NOW, Therefore, in order to fully implement the intents and purposes of Presidential Decree No. 468, you are hereby-directed to release said imported golf balls to the Republic of the Philippines Golf Association free from payment of the 70$ advance sales tax previously charged.

Done in the City of Manila, this 17th day of June, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy-four.
