[ LETTER OF INSTRUCTION NO. 948, October 19, 1979 ]

TO :
The Minister of Health
The Commissioner, Professional Regulation Commission

In order to facilitate the implementation of the program of reforms of the Government and to accelerate the delivery of basic health services through the rural health practice program of the Ministry of Health, you are hereby directed to take the following actions:
  1. Modify the rural health practice program for medical graduates by extending said practice from four months to six months and make the completion of tho six months rural health practice program a prerequisite for the registration of new physicians with the Professional Regulation Commission, starting with tho medical graduates of the second semester for the school year 1979-1980.

  2. Continue the rural health practice program for nursing graduates by making said practice for four months on a voluntary basis such that the completion of the rural health practice program is no longer a prerequisite for the registration of new nurses with the Professional Regulation Commission, starting with the nursing graduates of the second semester for the school year 1979-1980.
Such guidelines as nay be necessary to carry out this Letter of Instruction shall be formulated and implemented by the Minister of Health for the Ministry and by the Commissioner for the Professional Regulation Commission.

This order shall be implemented immediately.
