[ LETTER OF INSTRUCTIONS NO. 1244, May 26, 1982 ]

TO:
The Minister, Public Works and Highways
The Chairman, Philippine Tourism Authority

WHEREAS, in line with the national policy of redirecting the thrust of tourism development to the Philippine countryside, the Philippine Tourism Authority is constructing the Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel at Paoay, Ilocos  Norte; and

WHEREAS, the first, 125 rooms of the project will be completed inaugurated in September, 1982; and

WHEREAS, accessibility of the Hotel from the main highway and the installation of support facilities thereat are essential to its operational viability;

WHEREFORE, the Ministry of Public Works and Highways is hereby directed to pave the Balacad-Fort Ilocandia access road and the road network in the vicinity  of the Hotel immediately and complete the same before September 1982.  For this purpose, it is hereby authorized to draw funds in the amount of P3,744.000.   from its present budget.

The Philippine Tourism Authority shall extend full cooperation to the Ministry of Public Works and Highways in this regard.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 26th day of May, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-two.
