JOINT COMMUNIQUÉ ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF SAO TOME AND PRINCIPE

The Republic of the Philippines and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, guided by a mutual willingness to develop fraternal ties of friendship and cooperation in the political, economic, humanitarian, and other fields, have decided to establish diplomatic relations as of the date of the signing of this Joint Communique.

The two countries have agreed to establish their diplomatic relations in accordance with the Vienna Convention of 18 April 1961 on Diplomatic Relations and relevant principles and norms of the United Nations Charter and International Law.

The Republic of the Philippines and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe are fully convinced that the establishment of diplomatic relations corresponds to the interests of the two states and will further strengthen international peace and security.

In witness whereof, the undersigned representatives, duly authorized by their respective governments, have signed this Joint Communique in two originals, both in the English language.
