CONVENTION BETWEEN THE KINGDOM OF BELGIUM AND THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES ON MANUFACTURERS' AND COMMERCIAL TRADEMARK

Note: The Agreement entered Into force, February 5, 1957.

The Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium, having found it beneficial to conclude a convention for the reciprocal protection in their respective territories and possessions of manufacturers' and commercial trade-marks, the undersigned, being duly authorized to that effect, have agreed upon the following provisions;

ARTICLE I

The nationals of each of the two High Contracting Parties shall enjoy, in the territories and possessions of the other, the same protection as is given to nationals of the latter in matters relating to manufacturers' and commercial trade-marks.

ARTICLE II

In order to secure to their manufacturers' and commercial trade-marks the protection stipulated for by the preceding article, Filipino nationals and Belgian nationals shall fulfill the formalities and observe the requirements prescribed by the laws, rules and regulations of the country in which the protection is desired.

ARTICLE III

This Convention shall take effect on the date of its signature and shall remain in force for an indefinite period until the expiration of one year after
either of the contracting parties shall have given. notice to the other of its wish to terminate the same.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the respective plenipotentiaries have signed the present Convention and have thereto affixed their seals.
Done in duplicate in English and French, both texts being equally authentic, at Manila, this 5th day of February, 1957.
