Sir:

I have the honour to inform you of Canada's proposal to extend its participation in the "Bayawan Small-Scale Fisheries Development Project" up to December 31, 1985, under the same terms and conditions of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on behalf or the Government of the Philippines and the Government of Canada on May 21, 1981. This notification shall form part and parcel and/or an addendum, to this Memorandum of Understanding.

I have further the honour to request, on behalf of the Government of Canada, your response to this proposal. An affirmative response would be considered as constituting a formal bilateral understanding between Canada and the Philippines which would become effective on the date of your note in reply.

On behalf of the Government of Canada, I will avail myself of this opportunity to extend to your Excellency the assurance of the highest consideration..

Excellency:

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Your Excellency's Note of today's date, concerning the proposal of Canada to extend its participation in the "Bayawan Small-Scale Fisheries Development Project" up to 31 December 1985 under the same terms and conditions of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Governments of the Philippines and of Canada on 21 May 1981.

I have further the honor to inform Your Excellency that the proposal is acceptable to the Philippine Government and to confirm that this reply constitutes an agreement between our two Governments, which enters into force as of today.
