MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

On 19 April 1985, His Excellency Mr. Wu Xueqian, State Councilor and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, who was paying a goodwill visit to the Republic of the Philippines, held sincere and friendly talks with Her Excellency Madame Imelda Romualdez Marcos, Minister of Human Settlements and Governor of Metro Manila of the Republic of the Philippines, and His Excellency Mr. Pacifico A. Castro, Acting Foreign Minister of the Republic of the Philippines. The two sides reviewed the Memorandum of Understanding signed on 10 January 1984 by Her Excellency Madame Imelda Romualdez Marcos, Special Envoy of the President of the Philippines who was visiting China, and His Excellency Mr. Wan Li, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, and were satisfied with the development of the economic and trade relations between the two countries during this period. The two sides expressed the desire to expand further the economic cooperation and trade between the two countries and agreed to make positive efforts to realize as quickly as possible the common objective of meeting the U.S. Dollars 500 million target for the yearly import and export trade volume, the specific issues of which would be dealt with by the appropriate entities of both countries.

DONE in Metro Manila, Philippines, on 22 April 1985 in two original copies, each in the Chinese and English languages.
