SUPPLEMENTARY AGREEMENT NO. 3 BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE UNITED NATIONS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE BOARD

The United Nations (hereinafter referred to as "the Organization") and the Government of the Philippines (hereinafter referred to as "the Government") pursuant to the Basic Agreement for Technical Assistance signed on 5 April 1951 at Manila between the Organizations represented on the Technical Assistance Board and the Government,

Have agreed as follows:

ARTICLE I

1. That Organization shall provide, as soon hereafter as practicable, and subject to the provisions of the Basic Agreement, to advise the Government as follows:

(a) the services of one expert on hand-weaving for an initial period of one year

(b) the services of one expert on craft furniture for an initial period of three months.

2. In the performance of their duties the experts shall work in close consultation and full cooperation with the Resident Technical Assistance Representative, competent agencies and officials of the Government and any associated authorities charged with development projects in the country. They will keep the Organization informed through the Representative of the progress of their work and also of any technical assistance project undertaken in the country, in their particular field.

ARTICLE II

1. In accordance with the provisions o£ the Basic Agreement, the Organization shall, in connection with the technical assistance referred to in this Supplementary Agreement, deal with the agency for these purposes.

ARTICLE III

1. The Government shall, under the provisions of paragraph 2 of Article III of the Basic Agreement, undertake the following:

(a) Provision of subsistence covering board and lodging, at the rate of 22 pesos per day per expert

(b) The provision of

(i) medical care and hospitalization of the experts and those immediate dependents who may accompany them while in the country;

(ii) appropriate offices with facilities, supplies, equipment and other materials needed by the experts for their work, as well as postal telegraph and telephone communications;

(iii) such technical and secretarial help as may be required;

(iv) transportation in respect of any official travel which may be undertaken by the experts within the country in the rendering of the technical assistance requested by the Government;

2. The Government shall, in accordance with paragraphs 2 and 3 of Article III of the Basic Agreement, establish a local currency fund for the defraying of local currency expenses under the requirements of this Supplementary Agreement. An amount of six thousand pesos shall be deposited initially being the estimated total requirements for six months and the fund shall at no time, during the currency of this present Supplementary Agreement fall below this amount.

ARTICLE IV

1. This Supplementary Agreement shall come into force upon signature.

2. This Supplementary Agreement may be modified by agreement between the Organization and the Government in accordance with paragraph 2 of Article V of the Basic Agreement.

3. This Supplementary Agreement may be terminated by either party upon written notice to the other, and shall terminate sixty days after receipt of such notice. Termination of this Supplementary Agreement shall not be deemed to affect the Basic Agreement.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF the undersigned, duly authorized representative of the Organization and the Government respectively have signed this Supplementary Agreement No. 3 at Manila this 24th day of July 1951 in two originals, both in English.
