In the spirit of cooperation and friendship between the Republic of the I Philippines and the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Domingo L. Siazon, Jr., Secretary I of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines and H.E. Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral cooperation between their two countries, and discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern.

The two Ministers, desiring to strengthen the friendly relations existing between them as well as developing areas of bilateral cooperation, have reaffirmed the following :

1. To continue consultation and coordination on all issues of mutual interest between the two countries through the diplomatic channels.

2. To work towards increasing the scale of cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

3. To encourage the exchange of visits between officials and experts of both countries, including businessmen and private sector groups.

4. To advance current discussions and talks between the two countries, that would promote commercial and economic cooperation, including agreements on avoidance of double taxation and protection of investments.

The two Ministers have expressed their support for the establishment of a Joint Working Group between senior officials of their respective Ministries. Relevant procedures towards this end shall be discussed as soon as possible.
