MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING ON SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA

The Government of the Republic of Philippines and the Government of the Republic of India hereinafter referred to as the Parties, Desirous of strengthening scientific and technological cooperation between their two countries/ based on mutual benefit, friendship and understanding, Have agreed on the following :

ARTICLE I

The Parties shall promote and develop scientific and technological cooperation in the field of Pharmaceuticals.

ARTICLE II

Within the framework of this memorandum/ scientific and technological cooperation shall include :

A. Manpower development/training on expertise available in the two countries.

B. Collaborative projects on medicinal plant research.

C. Information exchange on new developments on drugs/other Pharmaceuticals.

ARTICLE III

To implement the scientific and technological cooperation provided for in Article II, the Parties shall negotiate and conclude specific project arrangements or protocols in accordance with the provisions of this Memorandum.

ARTICLE IV

This Memorandum of Understanding shall become effective upon signing and will remain in force for a period of three (3) years. It will be automatically extended for three (3) more years, unless one of the Parties notifies the other in writing through diplomatic channels, of its intention to terminate this memorandum six (6) months prior to the end of the three-year period.

Done at New Delhi on this third day of March in the year One thousand nine hundred and ninety seven in two originals in English.
