AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE STATE ORGANIZATION FOR TOURISM OF THE REPUBLIC OF IRAQ

The State Organization For Tourism of the Republic of the Philippines and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Iraq hereinafter called the Contracting Parties, desirous to promote further the friendly relations existing between them, especially with regard to tourism have agreed to conclude this Agreement and appointed for this purpose as their Plenipotentiaries:

who have exchanged their full powers, found them to be in good and due form have agreed as follows:

ARTICLE - 1 -

The Contracting Parties shall develop cooperation in the field of tourism as well as of hotel industry, between them.

ARTICLE - 2 -

The Contracting Parties shall extend their utmost cooperation to ensure the success of tourist information activities aimed at developing mutual acquaintance between their citizens, and to improve the tourist exchange between them.

ARTICLE - 3 -

The Contracting Parties agree to facilitate travel of Filipino citizens to the Republic of Iraq and of the citizens of Iraq to the Republic of the Philippines.

ARTICLE - 4 -

The Contracting Parties shall undertake measures to promote group travel between the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of Iraq. In order to realize this aim, the Contracting Parties shall encourage their cooperation between their official tourist agencies and other related organizations

ARTICLE - 5 -

The Contracting Parties shall cooperate in the field of personnel training, development of tourist facilities and exchange of technical experiences.

ARTICLE - 6 -

The Contracting Parties agree to hold meetings in the Philippines and Iraq alternately, at such times as they agree upon in order to finalize the working programmes to implement this Agreement.

ARTICLE - 7 -

The present Agreement shall be ratified in accordance with the legal procedures in each country.

It shall come into force on the date of exchange of diplomatic notes, which shall state that the formalities required by the national legislation of each Contracting Party have been completed.

ARTICLE - 8 -

This Agreement shall be valid for a period of five years from the date that it enters into force. It shall thereafter be automatically renewed for further similar periods unless a notice of termination in writing is given by either party at least six months prior to the expirty date. Alternation of the texts of this Agreement shall be effected by approval of the Contracting Parties.

DONE and signed in Manila, on the 26th day of May 1983 in two original copies, in Arabic, Pilipino and English, both texts being equally authentic. However, in case of difference in interpretation, with regard to the Arabic and the Pilipino texts, the English text shall prevail.
