MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE FOREIGN SERVICE INSTITUTE OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY OF CHILE

Pursuant to the 1987 Cultural Agreement entered into by the Republic of the Philippines and Chile and the 1992 Memorandum of Intent between the Foreign Service Institute of the Philippines and the Diplomatic Academy of Chile;

Desirous of strengthening cooperation between the Foreign Service Institute of the Philippines and the Diplomatic Academy of Chile and establishing a linkage program between the two institutions in order to enhance the foreign service development program of their respective countries, the Foreign Service Institute of the Philippines and the Diplomatic Academy of Chile, hereinafter referred to as the Contracting Parties, have agreed as follows:

ARTICLE 1

The Contracting Parties shall maintain an active exchange of information relating to their respective programs of studies, courses, seminars, language programs and other activities that the respective institutions administer.

ARTICLE 2

The Contracting Parties shall exchange information on International Law, Diplomatic Practice and other pursuits pertinent to the diplomatic profession, as well as in the field of international political, economic and cultural relations.

ARTICLE 3

The Contracting Parties shall hold regular consultations and shall organize courses and seminars alternately in Manila and Santiago. They shall encourage the exchange of lecturers, professors, experts and traineesscholars in all areas of interest to their respective institutions.

ARTICLE 4

The Contracting Parties shall foster the exchange of publications and other materials of common interest, as well as facilitate the establishment of contacts between their respective libraries.

ARTICLE 5

The Contracting Parties shall exchange information with respect to activities of mutual interest, particularly their participation in regional and international meetings on international relations which involve foreign service or diplomatic institutes and training and research institutions.

ARTICLE 6

This Memorandum of Understanding shall enter into force on the date of its signing and shall remain in force for a period of three years renewable automatically for a similar period, except when one of the Parties informs the other Party by written notification at least 90 days prior to the expiry of the three-year period or any time thereafter of its intention to terminate the Memorandum of Understanding.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Contracting Parties have signed this Memorandum of Understanding and have affixed their seals.
