AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF BANGLADESH ON THE WAIVER OF VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR HOLDERS OF DIPLOMATIC AND OFFICIAL PASSPORTS

The Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh hereinafter referred to singularly as the "Contracting Party" or and collectively as the "Contracting Parties"), DESIROUS of entering into an agreement for the enhancement of their bilateral relations; and

WISHING to facilitate the entry of their respective citizens who are holders of valid diplomatic or official passports into the territory of the other Contracting Party;

HAVE AGREED AS FOLLOWS:

Article I

Citizens of either Party who are holders of valid diplomatic and official passports shall enter into, transit through or stay in the territory of the other Contracting Party without obtaining a visa if such stay does not exceed thirty (30) days from the date of entry. The thirty day period of stay may be extended at the request of the holders of diplomatic or official passports, subject to the consent of the competent authorities of the receiving Contracting Party.

Article II

The Contracting Parties shall exchange, through diplomatic channels, their respective valid passport specimens within thirty (30) days after the entry into force of this Agreement. The Contracting Parties shall inform each other about the introduction of new types and classification of passports, as well as change or modification to those currently in use and shall furnish each other relevant specimens at least thirty (30) days prior to their use.

Article III

Notwithstanding the exemption 1rom obtaining entry visas under this Agreement, it is the duty of persons benefiting therefrom to comply with the laws and regulations of the receiving Contracting Party regarding entry into, stay in and exit from the receiving Contracting Party.

Article IV

Each Contracting Party reserves the right to refuse entry to persons regarded as persona non-grata or considered as undesirable and to terminate the stay of such persons on its territory after they have been permitted entry.

Article V

Each Contracting Party may, for reasons of public order, security or health, temporarily suspend in whole or in part, the implementation of this Agreement. Such suspension and the lifting of the suspension shall be notified through diplomatic channels to the other Contracting Party at least fifteen (15) days prior to their taking effect.

Article VI

Citizens of either Contracting Party holding valid diplomatic and official passports who are assigned to work in diplomatic missions or consular posts in the territory of the other Contracting Party, including their legitimate spouses, dependent children and dependent parents who are issued diplomatic/official passports and accompany and live with them, shall not be required to secure entry visas but be required to notify the host Contracting Party about their arrival and assumption of duty at the post within 30 days of their date of entry, and request for the issuance of residence or multiple visa for the period of their assignment.

Article VII

Any dispute between the Contracting Parties arising out of or relating to the interpretation or implementation of this Agreement shall be settled by consultations or negotiations, through diplomatic channels.

Article VIII

Any amendments or revision to the text of this Agreement shall be done by mutual consent of the Contracting Parties. The amendments or revision shall enter into force in accordance with Article 9 of this Agreement.

Article IX

This Agreement shall enter into force on the date of the receipt of the later written notification by the Contracting Parties, through diplomatic channels, indicating that the domestic requirements for its entry into force have been complied with.

This Agreement shall remain in full force and effect until terminated by the Parties. Either Contracting Party may terminate this Agreement by giving a written notice of termination, through diplomatic channels, specifying the date on which such termination shall take effect.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned, being authorized by their respective Governments, have signed the present Agreement.
