IMPLEMENTING PROGRAM OF TOURISM COOPERATION 2017-2022 BETWEEN THE DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM AND SPORTS OF THE KINGDOM OF THAILAND

Pursuant to the Agreement on Cooperation on Tourism between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand signed on 24th March 1993 in Manila, Philippines

The Department of Tourism of the Republic of the Philippines and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Kingdom of Thailand (hereinafter referred to as the "Participants") developed this Implementation Program of Tourism Cooperation 2017-2022. in accordance with rules and regulations of both Participants;

Have reached the following understanding:

Paragraph 1
Tourism Cooperation

Both Participants will continue to strengthen and promote bilateral tourism cooperation in line with the Memorandum of Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Kingdom of Thailand.

 

Paragraph 2
Exchange of officials and staff

Visits of officials and staff will be undertaken to build their capacity in the areas of tourism development, administration and finance, human resource, marketing and promotions and standards and regulations.

  1. Participants will invite 4 to 6 members from the Philippines/Thailand to visit each country. Members of the delegation will be determined by the visiting Party while appropriate programs of activities will be prepared by the host country in close coordination with the visiting Participant.

  2. The visiting Participant will borne the delegation's international and domestic airfare while the host country will shoulder ground arrangements, such as local transfers, accommodation, and meals of the visiting Participant.

 

Paragraph 3
Human Resource Development and Training

Encourage the tourism education institutes of the two countries to cooperate with each other, exchange technical materials, send experts to give lectures and provide information on the opportunities and conditions for tourism-related training.

  Paragraph 4
Joint Tourism Promotions and Marketing

  1. The Participants decided to advance cooperation and exchange to increase the overall number of tourist traffic in both Participants' countries.

  2. Both Participants will endeavour to encourage their respective travel agents to facilitate the development of a joint promotional program that would market the Philippines and Thailand under one package tour.

  3. Familiarization tours for Media. Tour operators and Travel agents will be undertaken to strengthen awareness of tourism destinations and products of both Countries.

  4. Participation in international events and conferences, workshops, seminars in each other’s countries will also be strongly supported.

 

Paragraph 5
Joint Working Group

The Joint Working Group serve as platform for both countries to present their corresponding environmentally sustainable and socially responsible tourism development and cultural preservation programs, as well as, experiences in the governance of the tourism industry, enforcement of tourism laws and regulations, and human resource development. For this purpose, the Participants will set up a working group to facilitate the implementation of tourism programs and projects indicated above.


The Implementation Program will come into effect on the date of the signature.


Signed in duplicate at Bangkok, Thailand on the 21st Day of March 2017 in the English and Thai languages. All both texts having equal validity. In case of difference in interpretation, the English text will be used.
