CULTURAL EXCHANGE PROGRAMME BETWEEN THE NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR CULTURE AND THE ARTS OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND MINISTRY OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF BANGLADESH FOR THE YEARS 2018-2020

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (hereinafter referred to as the 'Sides');

CONSIDERING the Cultural Agreement between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, signed in Manila on 26 May 1980;

Desirous of further promoting their friendly relations in the field of culture;

Have agreed on the following Cultural Exchange Programme for the Period 2018-2020.

1. Exchange of Cultural information Materials:

Both Sides will encourage and facilitate the exchange of cultural periodicals; journals and publications of cultural topics.

2. Cooperation and Exchanges in Literature and Publishing

a. Both Sides will support each other in arranging gathering of writers, editors, editorial entities and intellectuals of two countries to exchange their views and encourage their
participation in international book fairs held in the territory of the other;

b. Both Sides will in particular, also encourage gathering of women writers and Young writers;

c. Both Sides may also organize thematic gatherings on Journalism (including media personnel of print and electronic media) and promotion of peace and nation-bulding;

d. Both Sides will encourage -

i. Exchange of documentary films as communication materials of common interest to both countries;

ii Cooperation in publishing books, journals and joint production of films; and

iii Conduct of study tours for publishing and mass communication experts, film producers and technicians for promotion of bilateral cultural ties.

3. Performing Arts

a. Both Sides will exchange residency program for one (1) theater artist from each other's country for a period of one month.

b. Both Sides will exchange visits of a delegation of four dance educators for a period of two weeks. The receiving Side will organize the workshop as well as the performance
which will be the culmination of the activity.

4. Promotion, conservation and restoration of historical and cultural patrimony

a. Both Sides will promote the exchange of information and specialists on archaeology.

b. Through their competent institutions, both Sides will encourage the implementation of joint projects and cooperation for the promotion, protection, restoration and
management of historical and cultural patrimony and will support the exchange and information to facilitate the recovery of missing cultural artifacts illegally taken from
either country within the framework of their respective laws and regulations.

5. Participation in each country's festival

The Sides will promote the participation of their respective countries in important festivals held in the territory of the other country.

6. Exchange of Art Exhibits

a. Exhibits of visual arts may be exchanged between both Sides;

b. For a wider exposure and to promote mutual appreciation of each other's culture among larger sectors of the local population, both Sides will ensure that the exhibits are shown
in local universities as well as major and secondary cities and towns.

c. Both Sides will hold exhibitions of paintings and handicrafts in each other's country for a period of two-three weeks subject to negotiations between the concerned institutions
of both countries.

7. Film Weeks dedicated to each country

a. To promote the exchange of artistic experiences and to establish cooperation in the field of cinematography, both sides will organize film weeks dedicated to the showing of films of
the other country in the territory of the other.

b. The celebration of the film weeks may be graced by the presence of film expert(s) from the countries concerned.

8. Expenditure

a. The expenses for a return trip of a delegation and art troupe to be exchanged under this program will be borne by the sending side and the receiving side will bear the expenses
for their stay (lodging, boarding, local travel and first-aid)

b. The expenses for transportation of exhibits for the exhibition to be held under this program will be borne by the sending side and the receiving side will bear the expenses for organizing the exhibition, its venue, its advertisement and local transport of the exhibits.

9. Upon completion of this programme after three years, if there is no objection by either sides, this programme will be autmatically renewed for another three years from the date of completion of the programme.

10. Signed in ----------------- on the ---------------- Day of ------------------ Two Thousand and Eighteen of the Christian Calendar in two originals in English. The Programme will become effective from the date of its signing and will remain effective until 31 December 2020.
