PROTOCOL ON COOPERATION BETWEEN THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA

The Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, hereinafter referred to as the "the Parties"

Desiring to develop and to strengthen their mutually beneficial cooperation,

With a view to further enhancing the friendly relations and deepening the cooperation already existing between the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of Croatia, and to give new dimensions to this cooperation,

Have agreed as follows:

ARTICLE I

In order to exchange views concerning the development of their bilateral relations and to consider regional and international issues of mutual interest, the Parties will meet once a year, and whenever deemed necessary, alternatively in the Republic of the Philippines and in the Republic of Croatia.

ARTICLE II

Diplomatic missions of the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of Croatia in third countries and to the United Nations and other international organizations will undertake to consolidate consultations between them mainly in connection with bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

ARTICLE III

The Parties shall encourage cooperation between institutions in both countries in charge of research in the field of international relations.

ARTICLE IV

Any amendment or revision to the text of this Protocol shall be done by mutual consent of the Parties. This amendment or revision shall enter into force in accordance with Article VI.

ARTICLE V

This Protocol shall enter into force on the date of the receipt of the latter notification by the Parties indicating that their internal legal requirements for its entry into force have been fulfilled.

ARTICLE VI

This Protocol shall remain in effect unless one Party officially notifies the other Party, through diplomatic channels, of its desire to suspend or terminate this Protocol. In such a case, the Protocol shall remain effective until three (3) months after the date on which one Party receives an official notification from the other Party expressing the desire of the latter to suspend or terminate this Protocol.

Done in Zagreb on the 24th day of January 2005, in the English and Croatian language, both texts being equally authentic. In case of divergence in interpretation, the English text shall prevail.
