PROGRAMME OF CULTURAL EXCHANGE BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF PAKISTAN FOR 2005-2009
In pursuance to the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation signed on 15th August 1961, the two countries have agreed to implement the following programme of cultural exchanges:
ARTICLE 1
EXCHANGE OF CULTURAL INFORMATION MATERIALS
The exchange of publications concerning culture and cultural traditions could be started as soon as possible and maintained throughout the validity of this Programme.
ARTICLE 2
EXCHANGE OF PERFORMING GROUPS
In time for the celebration of the Philippine Independence Day in June 2006, the Philippines shall send to Pakistan a 14-member dance troupe that will acquaint the Pakistani people with Philippine folk dances, music and songs. The group will be accompanied by an expert in either Philippine folk dances or folk music.
Pakistan may send a dance troupe or a singing group to the Philippines, the schedule of which will be decided by the Pakistani side in consultation with the Philippine side. This could be made to coincide with the celebration of Pakistani National Day (March 23) or with the Philippine National Arts Month in February.
ARTICLE 3
PROMOTION, CONSERVATION, RESTORATION OF HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL PATRIMONY
The parties will exchange visits of art specialists or experts in archeology/museology. In 2007, the Philippines will send a group of 5 archeologists and museologists to Pakistan to get acquainted with the people's culture and observe techniques in use for the conservation, restoration and management of historical and cultural patrimony, and the upkeep of museums.
The Philippines will welcome the visit of a Pakistani delegation, which will come for a similar or related objective.
ARTICLE 4
COOPERATION AND EXCHANGES IN CULTURE AND THE ARTS
In 2008, the two parties will exchange visits of experts on culture and arts who will deliver lectures on their respective fields. Exhibits of photographs, books and crafts may accompany the lectures or fora to complement or to further highlight the content of the activity.
ARTICLE 5
PARTICIPATION IN EACH COUNTRY'S FESTIVALS
The parties may invite each other to participate in other festivals of each other's country. Participation will be according to the terms and conditions of the festival authorities.
ARTICLE 6
RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER CULTURAL OR ARTISTIC EXCHANGES
The provisions stipulated in the present programme do not exclude other exchanges not mentioned herein above and agreed upon through diplomatic channels.
ARTICLE 7
COSTS AND EXPENSES
The sending party will be responsible for international travelling expenses as well as the international health insurance of the delegations, troupes and teams, while the receiving party will be responsible for the domestic board, lodging and transportation of the visiting delegations, troupes and teams.
As for exhibitions, the sending party will be responsible for transporting the exhibits to the other country, while the receiving party will be responsible for the expenses of the exhibition within its territory.
ARTICLE 8
ENTRY INTO FORCE, VALIDITY AND TERMINATION
The present programme will come into force from the day of its signing and will remain valid until 2009 unless either of the Contracting Party requests its termination by serving a written notice to the other Party three months prior to the intended termination.
