AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION CONCERNING A REQUEST FOR X-RAY TECHNOLOGIST

Sir,

I have the honour to write you in connection with my letter to the Acting Secretary of Health, reference WPRO 0156—A, dated 23 August 1968 (a copy of which was also furnished you) and his reply dated 7 October 1968 with regard to the inter-country advisory services on training in the maintenance of X-ray equipment in 1969.

Arrangements have been made for the WHO X-ray technologist to visit the Philippines for three months in 1969 to assist your Government:

1. to assess your needs for the maintenance of radiological equipment;

2. to advise on the organization of a maintenance service as part of the Government's technical services to health and medical institution of the country;

3. to assist in organizing, directing and supervising the training of selected X-ray operators in the installation and testing of new X-ray equipment and in calibrating, servicing and maintaining X-ray equipment; and

4. to assist in organizing, directing and supervising the training of X-ray operators in the proper use of radiographic and photofluorographic equipment.

Although the assignment of the WHO X-ray technologist will not involve the Government in any expenditure connected with international travel, or his salary and allowances, it will have to meet the following commitments:

1. prior to the assignment of the WHO X-ray technologist, full documentation covering the duties implicit in the terms of reference above and the problems involved will be sent to the Organization;

2. the provision of office accommodation, furniture, equipment, stationery and secretarial assistance as required;

3. the provision of transportation for duty travel within the country;

4. the cost of necessary telephone, telegraph, postal communications, public information, and any other incidental expenses necessary for the execution of the project.

5. the provision of a counterpart to assist the WHO X-ray technologist during his assignment; the name of the person so designated to be notified to the Regional Office, so that direct communication can be established with him on technical matters relating to the consultantship;

If you agree with the foregoing terms of reference, the signing of five copies of this letter will constitute an official agreement for the implementation of this project within the general provisions of the Basic Agreement concluded between your Government and WHO on 28 December 1950. Three copies of these are for use of your Government; the remaining copies should be returned to this office.
