AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION CONCERNING THE PROVISION OF CONSULTANT FOR A WORKSHOP IN MEDICAL EDUCATION

Sir:

I have the honour to refer to your Government's request of 1 March 1968, for three consultants to assist in the staging of a Workshop on Teaching Methods in Medical Education in 1970.1 am happy to inform you that WHO is able to meet this request. The services of the three consultants will be available for approximately three weeks.

The consultants will either be medically qualified with sound experience in the field of medical education or educators familiar with current methods of teaching and recent developments in the field of education.

The consultants in close collaboration with the Association of the Philippine Medical Colleges, will participate in the planning and operation of the workshop and give technical guidance and direction to the meeting,

Although the assignment of the WHO consultants will not involve the Government in any expenditure connected with international travel, or their salaries and allowances, it will have to meet the following commitments:

1. prior to the assignment of the consultants, lull documentation covering the duties implicit in the terms of reference above and the problems involved will be sent to the Organization;

2. the provision of office accommodation, furniture, equipment, stationery and secretarial assistance as required;

3. the provision of transportation for duty travel within the country.

4. the cost of necessary telephone, telegraph, postal communications, pub lic information and any other incidental expenses necessary for the execution of the project;

5. the provision of counterparts to assist the consultants during their assignment, the name of the person so designated to be notified to the Regional Office, so that direct communication can be established with him on technical matters relating to the consultantship;

6. the consultants will also be given access to statistical and other govern mental services and use of their facilities as required;

7. the Government shall insure WHO, its advisers, agents and employees for civil liability under the laws of the country in respect of vehicles provided for the project.

If you agree with the foregoing, the signing of five copies of this letter will constitute an official agreement for the implementation of this project within the general provisions of the Basic Agreement concluded between your Government and WHO on 28 December 1950. Three of these copies are for use of your Government; the remaining copies should be returned to this office.
