AMENDMENT TO MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 2009-29 DATED DECEMBER 7, 2009 (RE: YEAR MODEL OF UNITS AS SUBSTITUTE FOR AUTHORIZED TAXI UNITS)

AMENDMENT TO MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR NO. 2009-29 DATED DECEMBER 7, 2009 (RE: YEAR MODEL OF UNITS AS SUBSTITUTE FOR AUTHORIZED TAXI UNITS).

Paragraph 3 of Memorandum Circular No. 2009-029 dated December 7, 2009 provides that: "Effective 01 March 2010, all units proposed as substitutes for' authorized taxi units must not be more than three (3) years old upon the filing of Petition for Dropping and Substitution and must be of later model than the units being substituted."

After consultation with various taxi service operators/associations on the above subject matter and upon full consideration of their concerns, the Board hereby resolves to allow the following units as substitutes for authorized taxi units:
  1. Those units which are not more than five (5) years old from the time of filing of the  petition  for  dropping   and substitution shall be allowed until end of June 2012;

  2. Those units which are not more than four (4) years old from the time of filing of the petition for dropping and substitution shall be allowed from July 2012 until end of December 2012; and

  3. Those units which are not more than three (3) years old from the time of filing of the petition for dropping and substitution shall be allowed thereafter.
For purposes of determining the age of the vehicle, the year of its first registration with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) shall be considered.

This Memorandum Circular supersedes any and all issuances inconsistent herewith and shall take effect fifteen (15) days following its publication in a newspaper of general circulation or in the Official Gazette.
