[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 118, January 09, 1948 ]

AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBERED EIGHTEEN, DATED SEPTEMBER SIXTEEN, NINETEEN HUNDRED AND FORTY-SIX, ENTITLED “EXTABLISHING THE ORGANIZATION AND OPERATION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND OF THE FOREIGN SERVICE OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES AND FIXING THE EMOLUMENTS, PRIVILEGES AND ALLOWANCES OF THE OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES THEREOF.”



By virtue of the powers vested in me by law, I, MANUEL ROXAS, President of the Philippines, do hereby amend paragraph 17 of Executive Order No. 18, dated September 16, 1946, entitled “Establishing the organization and operation of the Department of Foreign Affairs and of the Foreign Service of the Republic of the Philippines and fixing the emoluments, privileges and allowances of the officers and employees thereof.” As follows:

“17. Personnel who have completed the Philippine foreign affairs training program in the State Department of the United States , are eligible, without examination, for appointment as Foreign Affairs Officers in any of the four classes, as shall be determined by the Secretary and approved by the President. Up to June 30, 1948 only, Foreign Affairs Officers, not to exceed 32, within any of the four classes, may be appointed without regard to the examination requirement under paragraph (14) hereof.”

Done at the City of Manila , this 9th day of January, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-eight and of the Independence of the Philippines , the second.
