[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 415, July 20, 1990 ]

LIFTING THE DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME (DST) PROGRAM INSTITUTED UNDER THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 17, SERIES OF 1990, EFFECTIVE MIDNIGHT OF JULY 28, 1990



WHEREAS, under the Guidelines Implementing National Emergency Memorandum Order No. 17, the Daily Saving Time (DST) Program shall be effective until August 31, 1990;

WHEREAS, in view of the onset of the rainy season and the early nighttime darkness which both cut short the longer daylight hours expected during this time of the year, the Energy Conservation Inter-Agency Committee has recommended the early termination of the Daily Saving Time (DST) Program;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. The Daylight Saving Time (DST) Program instituted under National Emergency Memorandum Order No. 17, Series of 1990, is hereby lifted effective midnight of July 28, 1990, Saturday, by adjusting the official clock one hour earlier, i.e., 12:00 midnight to 11:00 p.m. in both the public and private sectors.

SEC. 2. This Executive Order shall be published for two (2) days in two national newspapers of general circulation.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 20th day of July, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and ninety.
