[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 211, November 05, 1956 ]

ALLOWING RESERVE OFFICERS OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE PHILIPPINES TO POSSESS FIREARMS UNDER SPECIAL PERMIT, ETC.



Pursuant to the powers in me vested by law, I, RAMON MAGSAYSAY, President of the Philippines, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. For the purpose of developing proficiency in the use of firearms among commissioned officer reserves of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Reserve Officers both on active duty or inactive status may be authorized to possess firearms subject to conditions herein provided.

SECTION 2. Reserve Officers may be authorized by the Chief of Constabulary to possess firearms by virtue of this Executive Order upon certification by The Adjutant General, Armed Forces of the Philippines, that applicant is a commissioned officer in the Reserve Force, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and has had previous training or instruction in the handling of firearms and in markmanship.

SECTION 3. The following firearms may be authorized under Special Permit:

(a) One official sidearm, .45 caliber pistol or a .30 caliber carbine, or both, at the discretion of the Chief of Constabulary.

(b) Additional firearms of target model only.

(c) Souvenir firearms; provided that the arms shall first be demilitarized; and provided further that any part removed in the process of demilitarization shall be deposited with the Philippine Constabulary.

SECTION 4. Firearms other than those authorized in the preceding section may be possessed under Regular License subject to the general requirements and policies governing issuance of regular licenses.

SECTION 5. Firearms heretofore licensed to Reserve Officers in excess of or which could not be authorized under this Executive Order may be purchsed by the Government or deposited with the Philippine Constabulary until such time as the owner may qualify for or otherwise lawfully dispose of same.

SECTION 6. Executive Order No. 279, s-40, is hereby rescinded.

SECTION 7. This Order shall take effect immediately.

Done in the City of Manila, this 5th day of November, in the year of Our Lord, 1956 and of the Independence of the Republic of the Philippines, the eleventh.
