[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 227, June 16, 1949 ]

AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 82, DATED AUGUST 18, 1947, BY ORGANIZING INTO A MUNICIPALITY UNDER THE NAME OF TUMBAO THE FORMER MUNICIPAL DISTRICTS OF TUMBAO AND GAMBAR, WHICH WERE ANNEXED BY SAID EXECUTIVE ORDER TO THE MUNICIPALITIES OF COTABATO AND MIDSAYAP



WHEREAS, the Honorable Gumbay Piang, Congressman for Cotabato, and the Honorable Duma Sinsuat, Provincial Governor of Cotabato, together with Provincial Board Member Jose S. Lim of said province have petitioned that the former municipal districts of Tumbao and Gambar, which were annexed by Executive Order No. 82, dated August 18, 1947, to the municipalities of Cotabato and Midsayap, respectively, be constituted into a municipality to be known as the Municipality of Tumbao;

NOW, THEREFORE, upon the recommendation of the Secretary of the Interior, and pursuant to the provisions of section 68 of the Revised Administrative Code, the said municipal districts of Tumbao and Gambar are hereby organized into a municipality to be known as Tumbao, with the seat of government at Tumbao. The boundaries of the municipality of Tumbao shall be the same as those of the former municipal districts of Tumbao and Gambar before their annexation to the municipalities of Cotabato and Midsayap, except that its boundary with the municipality of Dulawan shall start from the western boundary of Datu Piang’s Katibpuan plantation at Nunañgan running northward to BLM No. Six at the southern bank of the Cotabato River.

Executive Order No. 82, dated August 18, 1947, is hereby amended accordingly.

This order shall take effect immediately.

Done in the City of Manila, this 16th day of June, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-nine, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the third.
