[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 56, July 20, 1945 ]

AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 39, DATED MARCH 10, 1945, ENTITLED "APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF ONE MILLION PESOS FOR CIVILIAN DEFENSE."



1. Paragraph one of Executive Order Numbered Thirty-nine, dated March ten, nineteen hundred and forty-five, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"1. That the sum of one million pesos be appropriated, as it is hereby appropriated, out of any fund in the Philippine Treasury, not otherwise appropriated, which shall constitute a reimbursable fund to be known as "Emergency Control Administration Revolving Fund", to be expended by the Emergency Control Administrator, together with all future accretions derived from its operation and such sums as may hereafter be appropriated for the same purpose, subject to the approval of the President of the Philippines, to carry out the purposes of Executive Order No. 382, series of 1941, as amended by Executive Order No. 29, current series: PROVIDED, That, as soon as possible after the close of each fiscal year, the Emergency Control Administrator shall render a detailed report of the operation of this fund during said year to the President of the Philippines: PROVIDED, FURTHER, That any surplus in this fund existing at the end of any fiscal year, which, in the opinion of the Budget Commission, is not necessary for the operation of the service, shall revert to the general fund in the Philippine Treasury."
2. This Order shall take effect as of March 10, 1945. Done at the City of Manila, this twentieth day of July, in the year of Our Lord, Nineteen Hundred and Forty-five, and of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, the tenth.
