[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 69, September 26, 1945 ]

CREATING THE RESISTANCE MOVEMENT MEDAL AND RESISTANCE MOVEMENT DIPLOMA IN RECOGNITION OF THE SERVICES RENDERED BY THE GUERRILLA FORCES AND PATRIOTIC CITIZENS IN RESISTING THE ENEMY.



WHEREAS, all guerrilla units regardless of strength and present status have contributed materially to the patriotic movement in resisting the efforts of the enemy to impose his will on the Filipino people;

WHEREAS, many organizations and citizens have materially contributed to the maintenance and existence of these guerrilla organizations;

WHEREAS, the epic resistance of the guerrillas in the Philippines, assisted by loyal citizens, is known throughout the world and has elicited the admiration of the United Nations; and

WHEREAS, this Government is desirous of recognizing the sacrifices and patriotism of those people who volunteered for the cause of liberating the Philippines;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SERGIO OSMEÑA, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the Philippines, do hereby order:

1. That there shall be created two awards to be known as the "Resistance Movement Medal" and the "Resistance Movement Diploma."

2. That the design and specifications of the medal and the diploma as well as the regulations for their award, shall be determined by the Secretary of National Defense.

3. That any person, regardless of nationality, who has taken active part in the resistance movement or has given aid, comfort and sustenance to that movement, is entitled to the above-mentioned awards.

Done at the City of Manila, this twenty-sixth day of September, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and forty-five, and of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, the tenth.
