[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 390, December 27, 1950 ]

AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDERS NUMBERED THREE HUNDRED FIFTY-THREE, THREE HUNDRED FORTY-TWO, THREE HUNDRED FIFTY-NINE, AND THREE HUNDRED SIXTY-THREE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES



By virtue of the powers vested in me by section 3 of Republic Act No.509, entitled “An Act declaring national policy, authorizing the President of the Philippines for a limited period to fix ceiling prices of commodities and to promulgate rules and regulations regarding prices of commodities to effectuate such policy, and authorizing the appropriation of a certain sum for the purpose,” and upon the recommendation of the Price Administration Board, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. Section One of Executive Order No. 353, dated October 3, 1950, insofar as it classifies and fixes the ceiling prices of locally manufactured nails, is hereby repealed by setting up new ceiling prices as follows:

SEC. 2. The ceiling prices hereinabove fixed shall include the 7 per cent sales tax.

SEC. 3. Section 1 of Executive Order No, 342 dated August 14, 1950, fixing the ceiling prices of commodities for the different provinces of the Philippines is hereby amended by excluding drugs, medicines, and household remedies from the operation thereof. In fixing the provincial ceiling prices of drugs, medicines, and household remedies, the following increases to their basic ceiling prices in Manila shall be allowed:

Zone I, 2 per cent; Zone II, 3 per cent; Zone III, 4 per cent; Zone IV, 4.5 per cent; and Zone V, 5 per cent: Provided, however, That in cases of Kotex, Kleenex, Modess, and Nursing Bottles, in the Visayan provinces, 3 per cent shall he added and in the Mindanao provinces, 5 per cent shall be added.

SEC. 4. Section 1 of Executive Order No. 359 dated November 3, 1950, is hereby amended by eliminating the producers’ ceiling prices.

SEC. 5. Section 1 of Executive Order No. 363 dated November 9, 1950, is hereby amended by eliminating the word “refined” in the last sentence so as to read as follows:

“Sugar packed in cellophane or cotton bags

P0.05 additional per kilo.”

SEC. 6. This Order shall take effect five days from the date hereof.

Done in the City of Manila, this 27th day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the fifth.
