[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 82, January 04, 1937 ]

REVOKING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 41, DATED JUNE 29, 1936

WHEREAS, in Commonwealth Act Numbered thirty-eight, appropriating funds for the necessary expenses of the Government of the Philippines during the nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, the National Assembly has placed the Bureau of Prisons under the Department of Justice instead of under the Philippine Army or under the Office of the President, notwithstanding the provisions of Executive Order Numbered Forty-one, dated June twenty-ninth, nineteen hundred thirty-six, ratified by it;

Now, therefore, I, MANUEL L. QUEZON, President of the Philippines, do hereby revoke Executive Order Numbered Forty-one, dated June twenty-ninth, nineteen hundred thirty-six, thereby returning to the Department of Justice the administrative supervision over the Bureau of Prisons: Provided, however, That Major General Paulino Santos Chief of Staff of the Philippine Army, shall continue in his detail as Director of Prisons, and shall exercise as heretofore all authority, and be entitled to all the privileges, of the said office.

Done at the City of Manila, this fourth day of January, in the year of the Our Lord, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, and of the Commonwealth of the Philippines, the second.

(Sgd.) MANUEL L. QUEZON
President of the Philippines

By the President:

(Sgd.) ELPIDIO QUIRINO
Secretary of the Interior
