[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 657, December 22, 1953 ]

TRANSFERRING THE SEAT OF GOVERNMENT OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF SANTO TOMAS, PROVINCE OF PAMPANGA, FROM THE BARRIO OF SAN VICENTE TO THE BARRIO OF SAN MATIAS IN THE SAME MUNICIPALITY.



WHEREAS, the Municipal Council of Santo Tomas under its Resolution No. 94, series of 1952, has proposed to make a selection of the seat of the municipal government out of the barrios of Santo Tomas, San Vicente, and San Matias;

WHEREAS, the Local Planning Commission to which the matter was referred expressed the opinion that, all things being considered, the barrio of San Matias is the most appropriate seat of the municipal government of Santo Tomas;

WHEREAS, the papers now on hand indicate that San Matias is the biggest barrio in the municipality of Santo Tomas, the population of which constitutes much over one-half of the: population of the entire municipality; that it is centrally located and easily accessible from all the other barrios; and that the inhabitants thereof through their representative have expressed willingness and readiness to provide the municipality by donation all the needed sites in San Matias for the various public improvements that must be established therein by reason of its being tne seat of government;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Elpidio Quirino, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by station 68 of the Revised Administrative Code, hereby transfer the seat of government of the municipality of Santo Tomas from the barrio of San Vicente to the barrio of San Matias.

The transfer herein made shall take effect immediately.

Done in the City of Manila, this 22nd day of December, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty-three, and of the Independence of the Philippines, the eighth.
