[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 24, May 01, 1966 ]

CREATING AN INTERIM WATER RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY



WHEREAS, there is an urgent need for a stepped-up water resources development, utilization and conservation program; and

WHEREAS, pending the enactment of necessary legislation for the purpose, an interim committee to coordinate all activities pertaining to water resources throughout the country with a view to alleviating the present water shortage, to prepare a plan for a short-range and long-range development of water resources, and to prevent wastage of funds through duplication of functions and inefficiency is advisable;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby create an Interim Committee to coordinate all activities pertaining to water resources development and to carry out a crash water production program, composed of the following:

The Chairman, National Waterworks and Sewerage Authority

Chairman

The General Manager, National Power Corporation

Member

The Administrator, National Irrigation Administration

The Director of Public Works

The General Manager, National Waterworks and Sewerage Authority

In case labor rights are affected in the execution of the tasks of the Committee, consultation shall be made with the authorized representatives of the labor unions concerned.

The Committee is hereby empowered to call upon any department, bureau, office, agency or instrumentality of the government, including government-owned or controlled corporations, for such assistance as it may need in the discharge of its functions.

Done in the City of Manila, this 1st day of May, in year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-six.
