[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 222, July 15, 1987 ]

PROVIDING FOR A NEW PERIOD FOR THE APPLICATION OF EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 107 DATED DECEMBER 24, 1986.



WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 107 dated December 24, 1986 provides for the surrender of unlicensed or loose firearms, ammunition or explosives without incurring criminal liability therefor, with the privilege of applying for a license to possess the same if qualified, and if not, to sell the same to qualified entities or individuals;

WHEREAS, pursuant to the aforestated Executive Order, the surrender of loose firearms, ammunition or explosives with the accompanying privilege ceased to be effective six (6) months after the effectivity of the Executive Order.

WHEREAS, those are numerous requests for the extension of the effectivity of this aforementioned Executive Order so that they may avail of the beneficial provisions thereof;

WHEREAS, the government is intent on minimizing, if not eradicating possession of loose or unlicensed firearms, ammunition and explosives and legitimizing possession thereof to law-abiding citizens of the country;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CORAZON C. AQUINO, President of the Philippines, do hereby order:

SECTION 1. Holders of unlicensed or loose firearms, ammunition or explosives qualified to surrender the same under Executive Order No. 107 are hereby granted until December 31, 1987 within which to surrender the same.

SEC. 2. The provisions of Executive Order No. 107 not inconsistent with this Executive Order shall remain in force and effect.

SEC. 3. All rules and regulations in the implementation of the aforesaid Executive Order are made applicable in the implementation of this Executive Order.

SEC. 4. This Executive Order shall take effect immediately.

DONE in the City of Manila, this 15th day of July, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-seven.
