[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 161, November 29, 1968 ]

ABOLISHING THE TONDO FORESHORE DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE CREATED UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER NO. 92, DATED NOVEMBER 20, 1967, AND TRANSFERRING ITS FUNCTIONS TO THE PRESIDENTIAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE ON HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT CREATED UNDER EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 135, DATED JUNE 10, 1968

WHEREAS, the Tondo Foreshore Development Committee was created for the purpose of coordinating and integrating the implementation of Republic Act No. 1587, as amended by Republic Act No. 2439, otherwise known as the “Tondo Foreshore Land Act” which provides for the survey and subdivision of the Tondo foreshore into lots for disposition to qualified applicants therefor;

WHEREAS, the Presidential Coordinating Committee on Housing and Urban Development has more recently been established to assume the sole power and responsibility of coordinating the implementation of programs and projects on housing and urban development;

WHEREAS, in order to prevent conflict and overlapping of functions and responsibilities over areas of implementation and insure reasonable expectation of efficiency and success, it is necessary that the coordination should be handled by only one body;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby abolish the Tondo Foreshore Development Committee and order that its functions and responsibilities with respect to the implementation of the Tondo Foreshore Act shall be transferred to the Presidential Coordinating Committee on Housing and Urban Development.

This Order supersedes Administrative Order No. 92, dated November 20, 1967, which is hereby revoked and amends Executive Order No. 135, dated June 10, 1968.

Done in the City of Manila, this 29th day of November, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and sixty-eight.

(SGD.) FERDINAND E. MARCOS
