[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 214, March 06, 1970 ]

REQUIRING ALL DEPARTMENTS, BUREAUS, OFFICES, AGENCIES, AND INSTRUMENTALITIES OF THE GOVERNMENT IN THE GREATER MANILA AREA, INCLUDING CORPORATIONS OWNED OR CONTROLLED BY THE GOVERNMENT, TO BUY FROM THE GREATER MANILA TERMINAL FOOD MARKET, INC., THEIR REQUIREMENTS FOR AGRICULTURAL AND MEAT PRODUCTS, WHENEVER AVAILABLE



WHEREAS, the Government is aware of the importance of a ready market, as well as an efficient marketing system, to encourage Filipino food farmers in increasing their production and improving the quality of their products; and

WHEREAS, the Greater Manila Terminal Food Market, Inc. (GMTFM), has been organized as a central marketing agency to provide a ready outlet for farm produce, to stabilize prices of agricultural commodities, and to provide incentives to farm producers, particularly those who are members of farmers’ cooperative associations, including those in land reform areas;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby order that all departments, bureaus, offices, agencies, and instrumentalities of the Government, the Armed Forces, government hospitals and public educational institutions, in the Greater Manila area, shall procure from the GMTFM or its duly accredited wholesalers their requirements for fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry and meat products. Where competitive public bidding is required by law for purchases of this nature, it shall be the duty of the procuring agency or entity to notify the GMTFM of all biddings to be conducted for these products.

Done in the City of Manila, this 6th day of March, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy.
