[ EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 343, October 13, 1971 ]
AMENDING EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 215 DATED MARCH 7, 1970, REORGANIZING THE PRESIDENTIAL COMMITTEE ON HOUSING AND URBAN RESETTLEMENT, BY DESIGNATING THE SECRETARY OF PUBLIC WORKS AND COMMUNICATIONS AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR THEREOF
WHEREAS, there is a further need to strengthen the machinery for coordinating the mass housing program of the Government, by improving the effectiveness of the Committee created under Executive Order No. 215 dated March 7, 1970 to hasten the national program for housing and resettlement for the homeless; and
WHEREAS, in order to carry out more fully the general objectives of this national priority program, it becomes necessary to develop closer coordination of the activities of the various agency concerned with housing, urban resettlement and other allied activities, especially the People’s Homesite and Housing Corporation, the National Housing Corporation, the Social Security System and the Government Service Insurance System;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, do hereby amend Executive Order No. 215 dated March 7, 1970, by designating the Secretary of Public Works and Communications as the Executive Director of the Committee created thereunder.
As such, the Secretary of Public Works and Communications shall assume the executive functions of the Committee, including those now being exercised by the Committee’s Action Officer, who shall now become a Member of the Committee.
It shall be the responsibility of the Executive Director, therefore, to coordinate and implement the policies enunciated and decisions made by the Committee. The Executive Director shall be assisted by a Technical Staff and Secretariat under the Presidential Assistant on Housing and Resettlement Agency, which shall provide technical and secretarial services to the Committee.
The Technical Staff shall consist of representatives of the Committee Members and such additional technical personnel as may be selected by the Executive Director.
Done in the City of Manila, this 13th day of October, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and seventy-one.
